Family Photos
My favorite family photos this far has to be the ones taken by Angie Wilson Photography in 2012. We had just moved from Texas to Colorado and I wanted to get snapshots of the colorful foliage and Colorado beauty. When I went out to search for our outfits I wanted to be stylish but not over the top and I focused on color coordination between our clothes and the background which was a fun little walking trail off of a small highway. Not long after our photographer had published our photos we heard from an outside blogger who wanted to feature us in their post about fall family photos and sense then we have seen them all over Pinterest and maybe you have too!
This last year I had one idea in mind for our family photo shoot and that was “lumberjack”! We love the mountains and I love all things plaid, flannel, and buffalo check! My daughter who was 6 at the time had a small request that she wanted to wear something “cheetah print” so we found a cute dress for her and then went from there. I also love the 90’s so I wanted to style my little guy with something tied around his waist. We all went shopping for our outfits together and had fun mixing patterns but stayed in a coordinated color palette. Once again, Angie Wilson Photography did not disappoint and we were beyond pleased with our Christmas card photos!
Here’s a few simple tips that I hope are helpful for you when you’re planning for your family photo sessions!
- Find a location
- Choose outfits that complete the look for your chosen location
- Color coordinate but don’t be scared to play with patterns (don’t be too matchy/matchy)
- Take a prop or 2 that is relevant for your family (musical instrument, book, blanket, etc . . . )
- Have fun and be candid!
Friday Favorites
I love fall! I’m on a mission this season to fill my closet with easy go-to neutral pieces. On today’s Friday Favorites I’ve put together some of my must have items to have in our closets for fall. Here in Colorado the weather can turn from warm to cool real quick and I like to be prepared to trade in my favorite summertime dress and sandals for something warm and chic! First up on the list is a basic black knit beanie for the cooler days when we want spend less time styling hair and more time bundled under comfy covers. Next, is The Transport Rucksack. I love this bag for 2 main reasons – 1) the color – it looks great paired with so many different colors and patterns and 2)it has enough room to carry the extra pair of gloves or scarves needed for falls lower temperatures. The third must have for fall is a versatile boot and the one pictured is my favorite of all time. I have worn this boot for both casual and dressy looks with jeans, leather pants, dresses, and even shorts. My last but not least essential for a fall wardrobe is a good pair of grey denim; it looks good with fall weather colors and can be paired with brown or black shoes to complete the look.
What’s in the Bag?

- Blender Bottle – I workout hard so I sweat a lot and I’m always reaching for my water bottled (filled with BCAA’s) during my workouts to stay hydrated.
- Headphones – Music fuels my workout. When I put my headphones on and turn my playlist on I am immediately in the zone to play hard.
- Training Gloves – to get a better grip, comfort, and protection while lifting weights.
- Lint Roller – Black is my favorite color to wear to the gym and it picks up a lot of lint and fuzz. Before I step out of the locker room I do a quick rollover with my lint roller.
- Lip Balm – No chapped lips at the gym!
- Deodorant – There’s not a lot worse than being stinky at the gym and I like to be extra prepared to get rid of any B.O.
- Hand Sanitizer – There are a lot of germs at the gym – stay sanitized!
- Ponytail Holders – My go to hairstyle for the gym is up in a topknot or ponytail but I don’t always fix my hair before I get there so I keep extras in my bag.
- Flip Flops – 2-3x a week I like to sweat it out in the sauna and I always change into flip flops so my socks and shoes aren’t soaked with sweat.
- Skin Cleansing Cloths – After an intense workout it’s easy to grab a wipe to clean up your face.

Friday Favorites
This is my 1st Friday Favorites posts but there will be many more to come! I’ll post my favorite items from the week here that will vary from fashion, fitness, home decor pieces and more! Be sure to check back every week to see what’s new!
#1 :: My number 1 pick this week is a denim jacket! I’ve started getting staple pieces together for fall and this was first on my list! You can find them in so many places ranging from thick to thin, hooded or not, button or zip, etc. I found one this week at my local Target (pictured on my Styled to Inspire Instgram account). I haven’t been able to find it online yet but I found a similar one here and it’s under $35!
#2 :: I like to go to the gym for my weekly fitness fix! I’m addicted to my headphones while I’m there. I made the mistake of forgetting them only 1 time ever and that was the most boring unfocused workout imaginable. Needless to say they are now a fixed item in my gym bag. My favorites are the Beats by Dre Solo HD Drenched In Color Headphones.
#3 :: I get to travel a lot with my husband for his job. I’ve learned a few packing tricks since I have to be ready to leave with him on the fly because sometimes he doesn’t know of his travel plan until the day before or even sometimes the day of. My z palette has been a timesaver for packing makeup. If you don’t know what it is please check it out here and I promise you’ll be glad you did and will be de-potting in no time!
#4 Last but not least for this week is my holy grail hair product. I’ve tried 100s of shampoos and conditioners but none compare to Caviar for me. I have thick/dry hair and this product keeps it tame and healthy from root to tip.
Tunic Tuesday

I love clothing pieces that are versatile. Ones that are practical but can be interchanged with other pieces for a totally different look. A good tunic can do just that. This one can be a dress, tunic, or swimsuit cover up! I just threw it on with some of my staple clothing items (black cami, black pants), a great pair of booties, and a hat to complete the look!
