Back to School Looks

It’s that time of year again . . . back to school! We always have fun putting looks together for each new school year.

The kids get to purchase 5 new outfits (on a budget), one for each day of their first week back. Eden is very involved in the process and enjoys every moment of it.

This year we made most of our purchases from Target, h&m, Tilly’s, Justice, Khols, and Dicks Sporting Goods.

Check out Eden’s corner for her outfit details.

Happy 2017-2018 School Year!

Falling for Shorts

Shorts & Tights

We may be headed into sweater weather but that doesn’t mean we have to pack up our shorts for fall. One of my favorite fall looks are shorts paired with tights. Any color or pattern tights work great with a good pair of shorts then add on a pair of boots or oxfords are you’ll look like you own the season! A quick highlight on my favorite 2 new finds; 1) The high wasted emerald shorts that are pictured are suede and the color is perfect for this time of year. 2) This adorable oxford heel looks trendy with tights and shorts but also looks great with so many other fall looks.

Try the look out and if you love it be sure to post a picture and use the hashtag #styledtoinspire

Friday Favorites

This week I have been searching for home decor inspiration to restyle a few areas in my home. Soon enough, I’ll be trading in summer scent candles for fall ones and adding/rearranging  a few new home decor items to welcome in the cooler weather! What better way to do that than to start with a fun DIY mantel piece like the one pictured from blogger Chassity of Clarks & Crafts?  The depth and texture of this piece caught my eye along with the colors that remind me of the change in season. It’s the perfect focal piece for any mantel or wall. I didn’t have to look much further for my second pick, can you guess what it is? Yep, it’s the roman numeral print out of an anniversary or any special date. This adds a personable touch that is different from a picture and it’s not hard to print out and frame to put on a mantel, side table, or wall. For more fun DIY inspiration head over to Clarks and Crafts for fun guides and tips!

Fall Must Haves!

I love fall! I’m on a mission this season to fill my closet with easy go-to neutral pieces. On today’s Friday Favorites I’ve put together some of my must have items to have in our closets for fall. Here in Colorado the weather can turn from warm to cool real quick and I like to be prepared to trade in my favorite summertime dress and sandals for something warm and chic! First up on the list is a basic black knit beanie for the cooler days when we want spend less time styling hair and more time bundled under comfy covers.  Next, is The Transport Rucksack. I love this bag for 2 main reasons – 1) the color – it looks great paired with so many different colors and patterns and 2)it has enough room to carry the extra pair of gloves or scarves needed for falls lower temperatures. The third must have for fall is a versatile boot and the one pictured is my favorite of all time. I have worn this boot for both casual and dressy looks with jeans, leather pants, dresses, and even shorts. My last but not least essential for a fall wardrobe is a good pair of grey denim; it looks good with fall weather colors and can be paired with brown or black shoes to complete the look.

What’s in the Bag?

Health and fitness are very important to me and both play a huge role in my everyday life. I feel better on the daily when I eat healthy and make time for the gym. It isn’t hard for to be sure that I get gym time because I love to workout. In fact, the gym to me is like an adult playground! However, there have been a few times I’ve made it to the gym unprepared and not ready to “play”. Have you ever gotten to gym and realized you left your water bottle or headphones at home? I’ve come to realize there are some essentials  I need to have with me so that I can be prepared for a great workout. In order to always be prepared I keep my gym bag in the car so that it is never forgotten. If you follow me on Instagram (@styledtoinspire) you’ll know that I love all things Nike and that’s exactly where I found my must have Nike gym bag that I have pictured. I keep everything I need to have a great workout inside my bag (click on the items to link up to my favorite brand)  . . .

  1. Blender Bottle – I workout hard so I sweat a lot and I’m always reaching for my water bottled (filled with BCAA’s)  during my workouts to stay hydrated.
  2. Headphones – Music fuels my workout. When I put my headphones on and turn my playlist on I am immediately in the zone to play hard.
  3. Training Gloves – to get a better grip, comfort, and protection while lifting weights.
  4. Lint Roller – Black is my favorite color to wear to the gym and it picks up a lot of lint and fuzz. Before I step out of the locker room I do a quick rollover with my lint roller.
  5. Lip Balm – No chapped lips at the gym!
  6. Deodorant – There’s not a lot worse than being stinky at the gym and I like to be extra prepared to get rid of any B.O.
  7. Hand Sanitizer – There are a lot of germs at the gym – stay sanitized!
  8. Ponytail Holders – My go to hairstyle for the gym is up in a topknot or ponytail but I don’t always fix my hair before I get there so I keep extras in my bag.
  9. Flip Flops – 2-3x a week I like to sweat it out in the sauna and I always change into flip flops so my socks and shoes aren’t soaked with sweat.
  10. Skin Cleansing Cloths – After an intense workout it’s easy to grab a wipe to clean up your face.

Style for the Kids

Both of my kids ( Eden 7 & Jude 4) love to go shopping. They have as much fun as I do picking out their outfits and accessories. My daughters current fashion obsession is converse and anything in the color mint! My little guy is obsessed with dinosaurs. He also loves his new nikes that he picked out when my hubby took him shopping. Yes, you read that right . . . my husband took our son shopping! I am married to a man that loves shopping for a good outfit just as much as I do. I love that about him but back to the topic at hand (style for kids!) it’s great to go to local places to go pick out a few items but I’ve found most of my favorite pieces for them online. Some of my favorite online kids shops are ZaraLittle TrendsetterCiao Co, and SC Denim. Now, off to pick up my cute little stylists from school!
